KFMA Improves Fitness Levels

KFMA improves fitness levels for teens, kids and adults!

KFMA improves fitness levels for teens, kids and adults through training in the Martial Arts, which have long been known for providing a strong, balanced workout for the whole body. Kowkabany’s Family Martial Arts provides a structured curriculum taught by Certified Master Instructors to achieve that goal. Training at KFMA will develop functional strength, balance and agility.

KFMA Improves Fitness Levels for the Beginner

You don’t have to be ‘in shape’ to start, anymore than you need to be educated before starting school. When students first start training at KFMA, there are no expectations of prior martial arts knowledge or skills. A beginner simply has to be willing to try a class, and our Certified Master Instructors and Black Belt Assistants will take it from there.

At KFMA, we have had adults who were unable to complete 5 sit-ups in a minute’s time when they first started; at the end of six months, they were completing 35 – 40 with good technique! This doesn’t mean we spend an inordinate amount of time on traditional calisthenics, they are simply woven into the class structure during the regular martial arts training.

KFMA Provides Improvement for the Seasoned Athlete

Due to the nature of martial arts training, especially the forms and kicks of Songahm Taekwondo, students will begin using muscle groups that are frequently overlooked during gym workouts or other forms of physical activity. Students who already consider themselves ‘in shape’ will be surprised by the additional speed and functional strength they will develop through KFMA’s structured curriculum.

During every class, there is a mixture of drills designed to help with strength, balance, speed and agility. These attributes are all developed through traditional Taekwondo training, using safety shields to develop power, and focus targets to help improve speed and accuracy.

Training at KFMA Will Enhance Your Performance in Other Sports

The Martial Arts training at KFMA will help students who cross-train in other sports, including soccer, softball, tennis, and football. There is a great deal of core strength developed by training in the martial arts, which provides a solid base of power for any activities requiring rotation. Students will improve their footwork and agility through kicking drills and through free-sparring, and the cardio drills at KFMA are designed to facilitate fast, explosive performance rounds and enhanced recovery.

KFMA Improves Fitness Levels Without Going to a Gym

Many of our KFMA students tried working out in a gym, and found that it simply didn’t provide the motivation or excitement they wanted.  While many gyms offer initial instruction for the first couple of workouts, frequently there is no further guidance or motivation offered by a professional, and no one notices if you show up to train or skip your workouts.

At KFMA, you will always have a Certified Master Instructor teaching your class, and you will receive feedback and encouragement every time you come to class. You will also develop friendships and will have fellow students (and instructors) who truly care about you and your training, and they will work with you to help you achieve your goals. This is just one aspect of how KFMA will help YOU to improve your fitness level! And while your fitness levels are improving, you will also be developing true self-defense skills as well as your confidence.
