FREE Women’s Self-Defense Seminar – October 2024

Women’s Self-Defense Seminar

On Saturday, October 19th, 2024, we are offering a FREE Women’s Self-Defense Seminar at Kowkabany’s Family Martial Arts (KFMA) located at 13910 Monroes Business Park, Tampa. This free community event is open to women and girls (ages 14 and up) and will run from 9:00 – 11:30 am. No previous training is expected or required, and you don’t need to ‘get in shape’ to take this seminar. We will teach you everything you need to know to defend yourself. As this is a limited-attendance event, (to maintain our quality and safety standards) you MUST reserve your space in advance by calling us at 813-540-5528.

Who will teach your seminar:

This self-defense course will be taught by Chief Masters Laura and David Kowkabany, (8th Degree Black Belts), along with a few Black Belt assistants.  The Kowkabanys have been teaching these free community seminars for over 35 years.

What you can expect:

This training session will be a mixture of physical techniques (striking targets, working with partners, and training in groups), specific self-defense drills that are based on techniques used in Taekwondo as well as those used in Krav Maga (used to train the IDF), and discussion/explanations of how to implement preventive measures at home, during travel and while in public spaces.

What you will leave with:

A solid working knowledge of simple self-defense techniques;

A free workbook that you can take home to use for future reference;

More confidence in your personal ability to defend yourself in a crisis situation.

As with any physical activity, all attendees will be asked to complete a simple waiver (minors will need to have this completed by a parent or guardian). Attire should be clothing comfortable for a light workout.

The seminar will be held at KFMA’s location at 13910 Monroes Business Park in Tampa, conveniently located between the Westchase – Odessa area and Oldsmar – Safety Harbor. We are just two buildings down from the Tampa Bay Brewing Company off Racetrack Road.

For more information or to confirm your space, you should call us directly at 813-540-5528.
