KFMA VIRTUAL TRAINING – SEPTEMBER to DECEMBER 2022 – ALL RANKS
As we approach the end of the year, we are now in our third major testing cycle and working on the more advanced color belt forms and sparring combinations!
With many of our KFMA Kids and Adults supplementing their in-school training by practicing at home, we have put together a collection of training videos that will help with learning their rank-specific material. The videos below will help you to prepare for our Fall Rank Testings to be held in October and December of 2022.
The videos below are broken out into four separate rank groups:
White Belts; Orange and Yellow Belts; Camo, Green and Purple Belts; and Blue, Brown and Red Belts.
Please remember that practicing at home is a great way to supplement your training; however, it is designed to reinforce the techniques you are learning in our school from your Certified Master Instructors.
Please allow your Instructor to teach you the proper techniques FIRST, so that you can create the proper habits for loading and execution.
Just a quick reminder… how you practice makes a big difference! Practice doesn’t make perfect, it simply reinforces habits. Perfect practice makes perfect, and strong practice makes strong!
Go slowly through the material and pay attention to the details! We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act, but a habit!
When practicing your Sparring Combinations, your first goal should be to learn the basic techniques in the combination. Then progress to refining the techniques so they can be performed quickly without losing the integrity/power of the technique. The final step is to be able to perform these fluidly, similar to the way we actually free spar!
Your forms practice will be different than your sparring combinations, as the focus is on the quality of each individual technique—this includes proper loads and hand positions, as well as the proper foot position and weight shift in each stance. As the pattern of the form gets easier, more attention should be given to hand-foot timing and specific target heights. The final version of your form should also include fluid motion/transitions, eye contact, power and intensity.
Please DO NOT practice material above your rank, as the techniques build upon each other over time. If you have questions about specific techniques or material, please ask your instructor.
